Reptiles
In designing for a client who wanted a safari room – a request was made for me to design a large mirror with pythons who appeared to be living in the wall. The client was very pleased with the life–likeness of the reptiles. Second mirror comparable to this was designed as a memorial to the young missionary Mom and baby mentioned in the newspaper article on the about me page.
For a gallery showing I designed a rattlesnake valance rod. To get the authentic coloring, I reviewed a skin I removed from a freshly killed rattler in Death Valley. I framed and matted the skin and it has become a real conversation piece on the wall. I must have achieved my goal of authenticity as I was asked by the gallery installer if these had been alive at one time.
I designed a rattlesnake bordertile to go with these snake pieces. A tooled leather single 2" rod was also designed to be the cafe rod to accompany the rattlesnake valance rod in slide track if chosen to be used for draperies can be seen in our tooled leather section. Easy straight stitch sewing provides the window covering. I used plain Italian silk for the body of the drape since the decorated rod is the eyecatcher, a pattern in the fabric is not necessary.
Reptile hooks for bath towels in shower/tub surrounds coordinate with borders formed using intermittent reptile and leaf relief, clusters of leaves, or an overlay of individual leaves.
An actual snake skin, reticulated or plain dyed your preferred color, can cover a 2" rod.
Our whimsical addition to reptiles for children who appreciate them can be seen in Children's Murals where Rosy Boa©, Annie Conda©, Lilyana©, Hugsly Bugsly©, in his pond-toon boat, will make your heart smile.
